Sometimes when I'm blogging, or just in general, I can be extremely unmotivated. And I hope it isn't just me who feels like this! So for all you who are like me, I thought I'd share some of my 'top tips' for staying motivated!
1) Make some 'blogger friends'
This is sort of the complete opposite of what they teach you about e-safety in school, but ah well! I found talking to other bloggers really fun and helpful in staying motivated. Similarly to this, you could join a blogging group/chat on social media direct message (for example, Instagram) and then you can tell each other when you've posted so you can go and have a read! This is also really helpful as if you are somewhat new to blogging (sort of like me) you can ask more experienced bloggers their opinion on things and get some more tips, which might bring in some new readers!
If you like this idea and you don't know where to start, you can contact me on Instagram, Twitter, by email *all of which you can find in the social and contact tabs above* or in the comments below and I will be more than happy to have a chat and maybe point you in the directions of some of the 'blogger friends' of mine!
2) Track Your Progress
I love doing this as it reminds me of how far I've come since last July, and it makes me smile every time when I see how my reads have increased from about 10 to 60+ *this may not seem a lot to some of you, but it is for me!*. 3 of my posts have had over 100 reads *which I'm so happy about! Thank you if you've read them!*
This isn't just for blogs, I also like using this on my Instagram. Me and my friend, who's been reading and following since I first started, have a private direct message on Instagram and I love looking back on it. This is because, when I first hit 400 followers, she messaged me and we kept doing this at 450, 500, 550 and so on. And this makes me happy because it was only a few months ago and now I have 1000+ followers *which, once again, might not seem like a lot to some of you, but to me its quite a big deal*.
Tracking how far you've come will motivate you as you will want to keep going and getting more reads and more views and more followers.
a) Remember how happy you were when you hit one
b) Countdown how far it is until your next one
This is because you will want to feel that happiness again, motivating you to work for it. And counting down will make you have something to aim for and look forward too, once again, making you want to try harder. An example of this is, at the time I'm writing this, I have 3977 page views in total and I keep thinking to myself, "ooh, that's only 23 more views until 4000! If I write another post, I could hit that by this time tomorrow!" and so on.
4) Organise Collabs
Put your blogging group to good use and organise a few collab posts! This motivates me as I feel like I don't want to let the other person down by not posting anything and that people might come to my blog and not be able to read the thing they wanted to.
Also, they're loads of fun to do! You can ask each other's opinion on things whilst writing, and who knows, you may even make a new blogger friend! Plus, you are getting sort of 'free publicity' whilst sharing other great blogs with your readers!
Once again, if you are looking for somewhere to start I'd be happy to help!
I hope you found this helpful! Leave one of your 'top tips' below!
